Infrared Heat- Is It Good For You?

With Infrared light and lasers gaining ground within many industries including the medical industry, it is no wonder that there seem to be many benefits to those who utilize infrared saunas. While the research and exploration into the use of infrared light & heat for health purposes are still ongoing and are deemed preliminary at this stage, it is believed that infrared saunas can aid in weight loss, improved circulation, pain relief, and the removal of toxins to purify the body.  Scientists within the medical field believe that the benefits shown from the use of infrared heat might be due to the interactions between the infrared frequency and your tissue’s water content.

How Do Infrared Saunas(Heat) Work?

Infrared saunas provide a type of heat and lightwave that is able to penetrate deeper into the skin than most heat or light. Because of this deeper penetration, it is able to help heal deep tissue. In theory, your skin temperature increases but your core temperature doesn’t show that much of a significant change in temperature. As long as your pores are open and you are able to perspire adequately your core temperature should remain balanced. With the ability to heal deep tissue the heat & light of infrared saunas are believed to provide aid in helping such things as premature aging of the skin, chronic kidney disease and some studies even suggest it can double as an optional treatment for chronic pain or can be used in conjunction with physical therapy and other forms of injury treatment. Athletes have even shown faster healing with the use of heat and some scientists and researchers believe that infrared sauna use in conjunction with good nutrient intake, regular massage, and enough sleep can speed up the healing process and make managing the pain of an injury that much better. 

While many medical experts suggest that the use of an infrared sauna is deemed safe for most people, it is always best to consult your health care professional before starting any new routine that may affect your health or well-being. It is also important to note that those with cardiovascular disease, those who have had a heart attack, and those with low blood pressure may put themself at risk when using an infrared sauna.
